Residence IL Mirto

We were a family of four, and the villa suited us perfectly. The pool was massive, with some shaded spots, and there was a private beach and harbor. We also booked day trips, which were really fun to do with the kids.

The bathroom is huge and really nice, with two sinks and a big shower. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the beds comfortable. The one annoying thing was the ants. Each time I showered, they came up through little holes in the floor.

We first stayed for 10 days in June and July 2022, and have returned every year since. We visited again in July 2024, enjoyed it a lot, and booked again for 2025 because everyone in the family preferred it to the similarly priced alternatives. The complex is tidy, our apartment was clean and practical, the people were kind and helpful, and the view from H1 was fantastic. Each apartment has its own parking spot nearby. In 2022 the hotel's beach wasn't too crowded, and we really enjoyed the pool. From H1 it's an 8-minute walk past the pool to the beach, which could be tricky with little kids or anyone with a handicap. You'll need a car or coaster to shop in Palau for basics like water and fruit or ingredients for cooking. The Pizzeria's pizza is well worth the price, and Bear Rock Cafe is a good alternative. When we booked directly for our 2024 stay, without a travel agency, we also got a high-quality welcome package with water, local olive oil, salt, and other goodies, which we really appreciated for the first night and morning. We stayed in 2023 as well, and checked in again for 2024. We'll update after our next stay.

The setting is great, the bungalows are comfortable, the staff are great, and cleanliness was a 10 out of 10. But I wouldn't recommend it for families with young children. The playground is poorly maintained and feels dangerous in its current condition. Other guests complained when our kids played in the pool, asked us to quiet them down or leave, and also objected to noise during dinner on our terrace. Our children are in bed by 20:30 at the latest. On the beach we moved away and ended up using the farthest corner regularly to avoid more conflict. It's a great place for older people, and management should clearly describe it as a quiet resort with children above a certain age allowed.
