Hotel Garni Katnau

Owners are friendly and helpful, and the B&B is quiet and clean with comfortable furnishings. It’s centrally located in the village, just opposite Mair's Stuben, where you can get good food. Bus stops nearby make it easy to visit Merano, Trauttmansdorff Castle, and Merano 2000. There’s also a lovely indoor pool and an outdoor whirlpool.

We booked ten days and brought our dog. It was a wonderful, very relaxed holiday at a hotel that doesn’t feel huge or crowded. Our balcony had a fantastic view, breakfast was great, and we felt completely at ease. The indoor pool and whirlpool were often almost all ours. Everything was very clean, and everyone at the hotel was incredibly friendly. Dogs aren’t allowed at breakfast. It didn’t cause a problem for us, but it’s something to consider if you don’t want to leave yours alone in the room. I’d have liked a small sauna, though that’s really a minor quibble. Everything else was fantastic, so it gets five stars. Schenna is a lovely little town with lots of restaurants, and Merano is nearby. You can walk there in an hour or take the included public transport. Dogs are required to wear muzzles, and there’s an extra charge for them.

The breakfast buffet had everything I could want, and throughout the hotel, the furnishings were harmonious and stylish, from the rooms and hallways to reception, the breakfast room, and even the garden. I spent a week at Hotel Katnau and felt at home right away. My requests were taken care of immediately, and all the staff, including the owners, were very helpful. Everything felt just right, making it easy to enjoy the holiday.

The hotel was very well located, almost in the center of Schenna, with bus connections for wherever we wanted to go. Our stay at Hotel Garni Katnau was wonderful. The service was warm and friendly, and the room was large and clean with a priceless mountain view. We could relax in the pool and whirlpool, and there was table football to play too.
