Archè Design Rooms and Suites

We chose this place for its location, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and found the staff welcoming. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, and the owner had clearly put care into the finishes and design. The small fridge was handy, and getting in was easy with a six-digit code for the first-floor entrance and our room. Breakfast was good, though there wasn't much choice, and Conchetta made lovely cakes each day. The wet-room shower looked smart, but water stayed on the floor and made using the sink awkward. What kept this from being a five-star stay was the air conditioning in room E, the first-floor suite with a tiny adjoining room. It made a high-pitched whine that was too loud to sleep through, so we switched it off. Even at the end of September, the room reached 28C overnight. We mentioned it after nights one and three, but nothing changed. We were told the owner had been informed and a technician had visited many times before without finding the cause. In colder weather, guests may have to choose between a cold room and warmth with the noise.

We found the owners very efficient to communicate with. They let us check in early, upgraded us, possibly because we stayed longer than most guests, and offered luggage storage at checkout. The elevator was a big help, too. The rooms were very clean, and daily room service was available. We especially liked the showers, which reached the chosen temperature and pressure straight away, and the local Ortigia shower products. Breakfast at 10€ per person was generous. The code entry system worked well for us, and the hotel itself is lovely. Its location made it easy to walk to the main sights. We were travelling around Sicily and really appreciated a good shower each day. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend it.

The breakfast was delicious, and even though we had to leave early, they served us before the regular hours. Concetta was wonderful. The owner and staff were all friendly and made an effort to make our stay enjoyable. Inside, the renovated property feels modern and clean, with lots of tasteful, quality details. The street itself isn't very nice, but the building is near a piazza surrounded by hotels and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. It was quiet, which matters to us. Parking on the street can be hard to find if you have a car, though it's possible.

From check-in through the attentive, responsive care from the hosts in the kitchen, I felt very well looked after at Arche Design Room and Suites. Staying here made our time in Palermo terrific. Many thanks to Carrà and all the staff, especially the woman in the kitchen, whose care and hospitality were wonderful. I struggle to remember Italian names, so please forgive me. I'd strongly recommend this place, and I'm grateful for the welcome.
