B&B Xenia

We were only there for three nights, but nobody cleaned our room during the stay. Rooms on the lower floor are beside the breakfast hall, so you can hear noise from 7:30 in the morning. The location is a strong point: it's close to the city center and easy to get around on foot. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

We visited Palermo in May 2023, and the vacation was ruined by this stay. We were charged 250 Euro per night, 1061 Euro upfront for five nights, even though the advertised rate at the time was normally 39-52 Euro per night. When we saw the place, we were shocked and felt it wasn't worth that amount. Our bed was never made, we got no fresh towels, and breakfast was awful: frozen hard-boiled eggs, old dried-out cold cuts, and stale homemade cake. The wall shown in one of my photos was the view from our balcony. When I challenged Guisi, the owner, she agreed to refund 250 Euro and emailed confirmation, but the refund never came.

Our room was clean and comfortable, and the place felt cozy and fairly quiet. The host was very kind and helpful. There was plenty of sweet breakfast each day, and water was free around the clock. Five stars.

We don't like being misled and can't recommend staying here. We were told the tax would be 12€ for the whole stay, but after one night in another hostel we paid 8€ there and then 12€ after checking into Xenia. Staff told us the tax was 3€ per night, not 2€ as we'd been told. We also saw the luggage of all the guests who had slept at this B&B the previous night, despite the supposed technical problems. We had to change hotels for Saturday because of “hydraulic issues,” even though rooms were still being sold on booking.com for that date at the same price I had paid for three nights. By the next day, over the weekend, the mysterious issue was apparently fixed. Nobody speaks English here, breakfast was terrible, with old smelly ham, three half-slices of toast, and two croissants. The kitchen is right beside the rooms, so the noise means you can't sleep past 7.
