Marco was a terrific host, always keen to share what to see, where to go, and some great restaurants. The room was bright and clean, and breakfast was a nice way to start the day. The hotel is well placed for exploring the city on foot. We’ve just come back from a few nights and would definitely recommend it for a short Palermo break.

Marco was welcoming right from the start, let us check in early, and was friendly, talkative, and entertaining. The rooms were spacious and clean, too. We enjoyed our stay a lot and will definitely choose this place again when we next visit Palermo.

The breakfast was excellent, especially the apple danish. Add a tidy room, a great host, and a perfect location, and I really couldn’t recommend this place more.

4/10
Marco is a friendly, lovely host, and the location is convenient. It’s a cheap stay, but arriving was frustrating: there was no guidance, the place can be hard to find, and I had to wait to see whether Marco was there to let me in. The foam mattresses were odd and sloped, and the sheets were thin with no real blankets. The shower took about five minutes to get hot. Noise was another problem. You could hear conversations and sounds across the whole floor, including from above and below.

Marco was the kind of host you hope for, with lots of suggestions for people visiting Palermo for the first time. The location works well for both local markets and transport. We had an amazing time and highly recommend staying at Operà.
