Cara Palermo

The best part was being so close to the historic center. Inside, though, the smell was hard to bear as soon as we arrived. I think it came from a kitchen downstairs, and it hung around until the following day. The toilet wouldn't flush, the shower stall was broken, and the towels smelled bad.

We only spent one night there. We got in at 10:00 PM, then booked somewhere else the next day, but they still haven't offered a partial refund. They also kept the tourist tax we paid for the whole stay. The apartment was in very poor shape and looked nothing like the photos. The mattress was incredibly uncomfortable, the bathroom was old and looked dirty, and the toilet kept clogging and wouldn't drain. The neighborhood seemed dangerous too. It felt like a house of horrors, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The owner welcomed us, gave us the information we needed, and made it easy to feel at home right away. The apartment, called "Ballarò", was newly renovated, delightful, and had every comfort. We stayed four nights, and its location near the historic market made it a great base for exploring Palermo. There's a pastry shop next door where you can get a delicious Sicilian breakfast. Highly recommended!

The host was so kind, and her tips were invaluable. We really enjoyed our two nights in this lovely apartment in Palermo's historic center. It had just been renovated, was clean and spacious, and had all the comforts we needed. A perfect spot for exploring the city on foot. Thank you!
