The entrance wasn't the one in the photo. That picture showed an empty building farther down the road. Our room looked luxurious in its photo, but it was nothing like that in person. The woman we met didn't speak English, and even after midday our room still wasn't ready. It was in an apartment block, up three flights of stairs. We got a refund minus 30 euros in administration fees, then had to find somewhere else to stay.

The landlord couple were friendly, though speaking some Italian would help. The shared kitchen is tiny, so making a meal there can be difficult, and the WiFi kept cutting in and out. Our room had a king-size bed with one blanket, even though it had been advertised as a four-bed room.

The welcoming, well-kept feel of Casale d'Or B&B made it easy to feel at home while traveling. We stayed for three days in Palermo and were glad we chose it. Gianni was attentive, wonderfully hospitable, and available whenever we needed him. His tips on sights, food, and getting around made our visit smoother and more enjoyable. We'd happily recommend Casale d'Oro, and we're grateful to Gianni for his kindness and professionalism. We'll definitely return!

The room was in pretty good shape and the service was good. Palermo's sights are about a half-hour walk away, though there's public transport closer by if you need it. One downside was the toilet: its lid wouldn't stay in place, and there was no window. The fan only ran briefly, so ventilation was poor.
