Mediterraneo Hotel & Residence

It's right in the center, yet the neighborhood felt quiet and safe. The hotel was clean, and breakfast was basic but pretty good. The staff were professional, friendly and kind. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

It's right in central Palermo, which is the best thing about this budget hotel. Breakfast is good and simple, and the cafe macchiato in the morning is really good too.

A basic hotel in a great location, and better than I expected from the reviews. At least room 154 was clean, fine and had quiet, working air conditioning. Breakfast was very basic, though perhaps that's more the rule than the exception in Italy.

The only real plus is the convenient location in central Palermo. We were given room 270. After the lift and some dark, scruffy corridors, we found a room like a dark, airless, windowless prison cell. The bed was clean, but the AC unit was noisy and hung crooked off the wall. The view from the window was disgusting and depressing. The toilet flush was so loud and forceful that it seemed to echo through the hotel. I asked to change rooms and reception showed me one on the first floor. It was bigger, but the view was just as bad and the AC didn't work at all. They said management doesn't turn on the AC until June, so it wasn't something we should expect. I suppose we were lucky room 270's unit worked, even if it was terribly noisy. With no other room offered, we stayed there and spent as little time in the hotel as possible. That wasn't hard, since the bar never opened during our stay. The way to the breakfast room was dark and scruffy, with litter and laundry trolleys. The nearest lift was for hotel staff only. Breakfast was very poor, served in a gloomy ground-floor room, mostly sweet unhealthy food and horrible synthetic juice.
