The location is fantastic, but the room let us down on our lovely four-day return trip to Palermo. It didn’t match the online description, which I might usually have let slide. On our first night, a desk fixed to the wall fell off. We reported it on WhatsApp since there are no staff on site after a certain hour, and told them we’d be out all day so it could be repaired. When we came back, it was propped up with the chair. It stayed that way for the rest of our stay. Since it was a safety hazard, I’m really disappointed.

The room itself was nice enough, though a bit worn, and the drains could use cleaning. But the noise made sleeping almost impossible. There was extremely loud music without a break from about 9 PM to 2 AM, like being in a backstage room with a eurodance DJ. On top of that, a loud humming sound in our room kept starting and stopping every ten minutes throughout the stay. I’d strongly suggest choosing another hotel if you want to sleep.

The bathroom is glass, so privacy is only partial. Even so, my wife and I loved the room, the service, and the location, and we’d go back. From our room at In Canto, right in the heart of Quattro Canto Palermo, we could watch street performers in the plaza. Breakfast was delicious, and the order form was easy to complete the night before. My wife is vegan.

The rooms are well furnished, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is decent. It’s right in the city center, though there’s no elevator, like in many European buildings. The air conditioning wasn’t very effective, so it won’t suit you if you need a cool room to sleep. Some rooms face the street, where artists sing until midnight or later. In the early hours, you can also hear crews clearing bottles and trash. If you’re out past midnight, that may be fine, but otherwise falling asleep is difficult.
