The location is within walking distance of many sights, and Marina, one of the staff, was pleasant to deal with. The room itself is nicely remodeled, the AC works great and cools it quickly. There are some minor annoyances, though, and I cut my stay short and booked somewhere else. The bathroom has only a small glass shelf, with no real space for toiletries. The card key controls the power, so devices can't be left charging while you're out. The terrace was too covered in debris to use, and there were no flowers in the flower box. The room was described as having a terrace, but it was unusable. Construction in this building and across the street started promptly at 8 AM every morning and woke us up. The noise outside at night was also bad, with groups of men talking near their shops, so sleeping with the windows open wasn't an option. I think the owner should have waited until construction was done or said on the website that there'd be so much noise and no usable terrace. There was supposedly breakfast, but nobody gave us any information about it. I only got offered coffee after running into a staff member in the hall. We were also uncomfortable about what happened with our room. My daughter accidentally left a gift card in the key holder when we ran to the store, and five minutes later the owner sent us a picture of what she'd done. She shouldn't have left it there, but why was he in our room so soon after we left? It made us feel as though there might be cameras in the room. Getting in and locking up was a hassle. Before check-in the owner sent a video showing the building and upstairs entry codes. There's no elevator, so expect to carry heavy bags up one and a half flights of stairs. We found our room unlocked, with the key in the card holder, and spent 20 minutes figuring out the old, faulty lock. You have to insert the key to just the right depth to lock or unlock it. On our first night, after finally locking up, we went out for water and couldn't get back through the upstairs entrance. The code wouldn't work. We messaged the owner on WhatsApp but got no reply. We kept trying the code, pushing and pulling the door, and eventually got in. The room cleaner also made the bed after our first night, even though I'd told her not to enter and said we only needed toilet paper. She gave me the paper, but when we returned from being out all day, the bed had been made. I travel a lot and never have my room made up, so that really annoyed me.
The host wasn't very proactive, so call ahead. The cleaning lady was super friendly, and they kept my luggage safe after checkout. The place was clean, cozy, new, spacious, and bright, and I had a comfortable, quiet night.
The owner's helpfulness was a real plus. He and his assistant let us in at 11:30 instead of 2:30 PM, thank you! The room was new and clean, with coffee in the little kitchenette, a large bathroom, and a small terrace we didn't use. Its location is excellent for seeing Palermo: about a two-minute walk to the Quattro Canti neighborhood, the start of the walk to the sea, the Cathedral, and the restaurant street that leads to the shopping area. It's also halfway between Ballarò and Vucciria. There are a few things that need attention. The entrance door to the two rooms is worn and can stick; you have to pull, then push, to open it. The room door and bathroom door also take several tries to close, and I'd recommend changing the lock. There aren't shelves in the bathroom for towels and other things, and the shower has no shampoo holder. Still, it was a very good choice. With a few small changes it'd be excellent. I'd recommend it as a B&B and would gladly stay again if I return to Palermo.
The location is a definite 5+, hard to imagine a better spot. The apartment was well cared for and had almost everything needed, with daily cleaning. I didn't meet the owner, but we arranged things over WhatsApp. On arrival day he sent a video explaining how to get in, which was easy. The main letdown was the advertised breakfast. It was extremely basic: a small packet or packets with a piece of toast, a croissant, a coffee capsule, and a few other little things. There was also yogurt and milk in the fridge. I recommend the apartment, but would book without breakfast to avoid disappointment and keep only good memories of the stay.
We slept really well: the room was quiet and dark at night, and the AC handled the 36°C (98°F) heat with no trouble. Everything inside was new, clean, and nicely decorated. The location is right in tourist Palermo, with the train and bus stations about a 10-minute walk away. Sights are walkable, and there are lots of cozy cafes and restaurants nearby. We were very pleased with our stay. Thank you for being so hospitable!
