I didn’t stay at this B&B. I was passing through the Palermo harbor area and looking for places to suggest to friends visiting in summer. Google listed this as one of the closest options to the harbor, so I went to look at the entrance. The outside was in very poor shape. On the path to the door I saw clear signs of urine, dog feces, broken bottles, and loose glass. There were also long streaks of urine right in front of the entrance. It seemed much worse in the evening. Groups gathered under the portico to sleep, linger, or use it as an outdoor restroom. It felt uncomfortable and unsafe, with loud noise and disorderly behavior. I also saw large groups staying there for a long time, playing cards and blocking part of the walkway. The location might be convenient, but the entrance and surrounding area are in an unacceptable state. I can’t recommend this place.

What stood out most was how helpful our host was, always ready with tips on food, sights, and getting around Palermo. The room was bright, roomy, and spotless, with dependable Wi-Fi, careful housekeeping, and a comfortable bed to come back to after exploring. Sturzo 44 is right by the Politeama Theater, with Teatro Massimo, the historic streets, and lovely piazzas all easy to reach on foot. Public transport is handy too, including for getting to the airport. We had a fantastic stay.

The street noise made it feel like we were sleeping outdoors, and the rooms were noisy with no real windows. The furniture is dated, and there are none of the small touches I’ve found at other B&Bs, like a kettle, coffee maker, or herbal tea. There’s no breakfast, or even a discount at a nearby café. We asked if we could leave our bags for a few hours after checkout, but were told they don’t work Sundays. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The owner was really helpful, and you’re only a few steps from central Palermo. It was our first stay here, and the room was clean and very comfortable. We’ll come back.
