Calipso Villa

Getting to the beach was easy, just a short walk, and the accommodation has its own beach area. Towels were supplied in the rooms, the beach had showers, and the cushioned loungers were comfortable. But the beach service was terrible. It was supposed to open at 9:00 a.m., yet most loungers still had no cushions at 9:30. We politely asked for two, and a beach employee verbally abused us and then threw our towels on the ground. It made us uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. He said he opened the beach whenever he felt like it because he was the boss. Villa Calipso / AWA Mondello said the employee was always very friendly, so there were no consequences. Trash on the ground was never cleared, and sometimes tourists had to pick it up themselves when it got too bad. The place itself is small and simple, but very clean and well looked after. Staff were always friendly and helpful, the rooms were cleaned daily, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was basic but had what you needed to start the day. The street is busy, though it didn't bother us. We had a sea-view room, while rooms facing the garden are surely quieter. The location is fantastic, and the accommodation is a beautiful, clean place for a holiday. Just be prepared for an unfriendly beach employee if you plan to use the beach.

I really enjoyed having breakfast in the garden each morning, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The place was very clean and well kept, with a good-sized room and bathroom and a very good breakfast. It's ideally placed, a 10-minute walk from the town center and restaurants, and just 3 minutes from the beaches. Bus 806 is convenient for getting to Palermo, with a stop nearby. The main drawback is the lack of an elevator to the first-floor rooms if walking is difficult, so consider a ground-floor room.
