Hotel Il Cecchini

The hallways reeked of cigarettes, and the room had a dirty old fridge that didn't work. The beds were rock hard, with only a top sheet and no blankets. The towels smelled strongly of vinegar. Carpets were faded and dirty, and I got bed bug bites here, which I'm treating as I write this. The bathroom was filthy too: mould throughout the shower, big cobwebs on the ceiling, and huge clumps of other people's hair came out when I tried to clear the clogged drain. A broken shower door seal meant the floor flooded every time we showered. There was also a rusty, broken chair fixed to the shower wall, and the toilet paper holder was broken, so the roll sat on a dusty wicker hamper. If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. Don't stay here, especially in room 108.

We found the second room just as dirty as the first, so it wasn't a one-room accident. The manager wouldn't refund us when we asked, and offered another room instead. It was still dirty, though it had a newer mattress. Don't pay ahead, since there's no refund if you're unhappy with the dirty rooms. Avoid at all costs!

The restaurant around the corner was fine, more burgers and meat than typical Italian food. The rooms were clean and the price wasn't too high, just right for us since we only needed somewhere to eat and sleep. Staff were friendly and spoke enough English to answer our questions, handy since we don't speak Italian fluently. We'd come back if passing through.

The restaurant is very good, and there's a small underground car park. The EV charger was always occupied. The room furniture is really old, and the place needs renovating. It wasn't that clean either.
