The apartment is spacious, with a lovely view of the lake, Isola, Orta, and the surrounding landscape. From here, the view is much better than from Orta, and the experience feels much more local than a stay in touristy Orta. The people are nice too. Within easy walking distance there’s a down-to-earth Osteria, a pizza takeaway, and a small food shop selling fresh bread. Pella, with a good cafe, a pizzeria, and a more expensive restaurant, is a short walk down some quite steep steps and along the lakeside promenade. Having a car is a plus.

That balcony view of Lake Orta was magnificent, and we could enjoy it from every room. We stayed for two weeks, and the apartment had everything we needed. Our bicycles were safely kept in the lockable cellar, which was a real highlight. With parking right in front of the building, it was easy to explore the area by car, bike, or on foot.

The country is beautiful, and so is the lake.
