Perusia Hotel

Breakfast was included, with both sweet and savory options, and gave us enough energy to explore the city. Perusia Hotel is about 20 minutes from Perugia’s historic center. The room was clean, quiet, and fairly spacious. The reception is open 24/24, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English, which shouldn’t be taken for granted in Italy.

The rooftop views were spectacular, and I enjoyed the art. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking a beautiful chateau. Our room was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the gate of the old city, which suited us fine since we like walking.

The young woman who checked me in was welcoming and kind, and the lobby looked nice. That was about the best of it. The hotel is some distance from the city center, and once I got off the small elevator on the third floor, I smelled something like urine. The carpet in both the hallways and rooms was dirty. It needs more than vacuuming, it needs replacing. My room was tiny, the walls and baseboards were marked up, and the furniture was worn out. Really, everything in the room felt tired. It badly needs a deep clean, renovation, and updating. The experience was underwhelming all around. I didn’t choose to stay here, but given the choice, I’d pick somewhere else.

The hotel is on a hill, about a 15 minute walk from the city center. Rooms are large and clean, and reception staff were friendly and spoke English. There’s free underground or outdoor parking. Breakfast was average, and the coffee machine was poor. You can ask the waiting staff for a free espresso or cappuccino.
