Ambassador

I’ve stayed at The Ambassador twice now, and hope to return. It’s a cozy place that made my leisure time in Italy relaxed and enjoyable. The room was clean, and the sea view was wonderful since the hotel is almost right on the beach. It’s on the seafront promenade, where there’s no traffic in front, just cafes, gift shops in the evenings, and friendly people around. The staff were always helpful and open to answering questions. A special thanks to the pasticceria. Veronique, the queen of that cafe, organized breakfast each morning so well, and her smile, small talk, and help set a lovely mood for the day. Lani, the princess of beverages, makes all kinds of Italian coffee that are a pleasure to taste.

The service was honest and very good, and the room cleaners were kind and helpful. After the first night, it was clear this is a practical hotel. The air conditioning and shower worked perfectly, and the beds were good enough, though they could have been better. Breakfast was alright, but there were more sweets than proper bread, which was a bit disappointing for us. The website pictures looked very different, so arriving gave us a feeling of being misled. If you’re after a practical, decent place, this hotel fits.

The rooms were cleaned carefully every day, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was ordinary. The hotel is close to the beach. The “private” beach is shared with other hotels and costs 24 Euro per day for two sling chairs and one sunshade. It may cost less if you pay for a longer stretch. There’s also a public beach about a 10-minute walk away. “Free parking” means finding a spot yourself, and if you’re lucky you might find one in 10-15 minutes.

The room was clean, tidy, and well air-conditioned, and our sea view was worth having. The staff were friendly. Parking was a real letdown: I was told at booking that it would be free, but we actually had to look for a spot on the street, sometimes a long walk from the hotel. The beach is another extra, at 24 euro a day, so we chose the public beach, 10 minutes away. Breakfast was OK, with ham, cheese, yogurt, eggs, muesli, cakes, croissants, and some fruit.
