Baia Flaminia

It's a lovely spot away from the center and the busy beach strip with all the umbrellas. The staff were excellent and breakfast was great. I didn't try the pool or spa, though I'm sure they're nice. My only complaint is that my room hadn't been renovated like the ones in the booking photos. It cost the same as an internal room, but had a small balcony and sea view. The TV was missing, and I'm not sure why.

Paying more than 120 euro a night, I expected basic comfort and safety. Instead, the air conditioner didn't work and leaked, the balcony door was broken and nearly fell on me twice, and there was a hole in my room's wall. The showerhead didn't work properly either, and the minibar fridge was empty and switched off. I paid to use the spa, where several things were broken, and wasn't even given a towel. Dinner took over two hours despite me eating alone. The food arrived cold and dry, even though the idea behind it seemed nice, and they were clearly struggling to serve people. Breakfast and dinner were self-service, with hundreds of people sharing coffee machines and water bottles. During COVID, that disregard for health and safety was shocking. They also held indoor parties without masks or other precautions. One was so loud, with blaring music and screaming children, that my floor vibrated. I had to be up at 5:00am for the ferry, but when I called reception to ask for somewhere to sleep, they said there was nowhere and the party would end around midnight. The website says there are adult and children's pools. There are two pools, but both belong to children. Most of the staff were kind and seemed hardworking, which is the only positive thing I can say. Staying at Hotel Baia Flaminia was a very regrettable decision. A local hostel could give you a similar experience for a quarter of the price. Take your money and sleep somewhere else.

I spent the morning supervising our high school students at the school assembly. The bathrooms were clean, and there was an elevator and a cloakroom. Sadly, no food or drinks were available on site, so the students had to go out and find snacks during the break.

The staff were helpful, kind, and quick to respond. The building is old, and the rooms look worn inside. The view is excellent, though, and the location is great in summer.
