Hotel Savoy

The beds were clean and comfortable, and the rooms themselves were very clean, but the layout caused several problems. Our room had no doors, and a glass wall only covered half the divide between rooms, leaving a large open gap. Even the bathroom doors were glass, which made privacy difficult. The toilet was unusually high, one flush button didn’t work, and the blinds were broken. The shower doors wouldn’t close fully, so water covered the floor after about five minutes. Hot water also didn’t work from the main shower head. Breakfast didn’t suit us, it was mostly sweet and very oily. There was no coffee maker, so you had to order coffee at the bar. This definitely didn’t feel like a four-star hotel.

For what it costs, the hotel is perfectly fine. The rooms look old, as if they haven’t been updated since around the 1960s, but they’re clean, and the Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and fridge all worked. The location is good, and there’s some private parking. If you want a true four-star place near the Italian coast, you’ll have to pay more than 60 euros.

This was a decent hotel, but it doesn’t deserve four stars. Booking.com and Expedia list a gym, but there isn’t one, and the pool and hot tub were closed in winter. One shade in our room didn’t work. The shower pressure was weak, and the water didn’t stay hot for long. The maids came into our room several times and disturbed us. When they did clean, they only made the bed and didn’t even replace the toilet paper. There wasn’t any hand soap either. The receptionist on our first night was very nice, but the others weren’t as friendly.

The room was cleaned every day, and the service was good, but I wouldn’t rate the hotel four stars. The walls are paper thin, and there were constant noises all night, like living inside a factory. If you’re an insomniac, you’ll have a really hard time sleeping here.
