The shower thermostatic valves have a problem: during a shower, all the hot water can disappear for 1 or 2 minutes. The owner said a technician had checked the valves, but that wasn’t what happened. They checked that the heater worked properly, which it does. Since the issue comes and goes, a 7-minute water run isn’t enough to assess it. There were six of us staying for 10 days, which I think was a more thorough test. I had invited the technician or a staff member to come take a shower and see the problem for themselves.

We really enjoyed our 12 days as a family at Casa di Meo. The surroundings have plenty for different interests, from mountain hikes to Tuscany’s sights, with Lucca about 10 minutes away and the sea roughly 30 minutes away. The manager, Cinzia, was extremely friendly and had great suggestions. She sometimes gives guests free entry to one of the many "bagni" along the coast. The Bruna apartment was beautifully furnished and laid out very comfortably. Each apartment has its own outdoor area, with a covered dining spot and barbecue. The grounds are gated and have four covered parking spaces. There’s a pool, whirlpool, sun loungers, parasols, and play equipment. Indoors, the bedrooms have air conditioning, and the windows have mosquito nets and integrated shutters. A few things could be better. The mattresses were much too soft and gave us back pain in the morning. The kitchen was clean and nicely fitted, with a gas stove and oven, but could use more equipment. I missed measuring cups and a whisk, and a microwave would have been welcome. We couldn’t find the right filters for the filter coffee machine. The dishwasher stopped working, though a technician repaired it right away. The walk-in shower has a bidet, but its floor can be slippery when wet. Wi-Fi comes through an outside antenna and worked reasonably well in the living room, but not in the bedrooms. Satellite TV was available, though there were no German channels. For the final few kilometers, if driving from Germany via Milan, Parma, and La Spezia, it’s strongly recommended to ignore Google Maps and take the very winding road from Massarosa instead of going via Camaiore from Viareggio. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can wholeheartedly recommend the house.

Thank you to Cynthia for being so hospitable. We spent a week in the Bruna apartment, a fantastic place that was peaceful, well cared for, and well situated for visiting parts of Tuscany.
