The booking problems really spoiled the stay. Shortly before we arrived, Booking.com canceled our reservation, saying the card was invalid. The landlady told us she couldn't accept card check-ins because of COVID-19 restrictions and asked us to pay cash. We got the booking active again and paid in cash on arrival, with no security deposit. A week into our stay it was canceled once more, which she said was a “system error.” We restored it too late to leave a Booking.com review, and lost €180 in Booking.com cashback. Despite several attempts to reach her and promises she'd sort it out with Booking.com, nothing was resolved. The location is good, with the lake a 5-minute walk away and the town center, with its many restaurants, around 15-20 minutes away. There's plenty of parking. We stayed in the ground-floor apartment, one of several units the owner has in the building. It's meant for four people, but that's a squeeze, especially with the small bathroom. The kitchen has good equipment and a great refrigerator, though there's no counter space, so cooking means using the stove or the area beside the sink. Most of the furnishings are very basic, and some are uncomfortable, including the chairs, bathroom cabinet, and beds. The bathroom cabinet drawers all squeak, which gets annoying. The mattresses were too soft for us. The amenities were satisfactory, but the service was poor. Very disappointing, and our last time using this provider.
