Hotel Rivus

For travellers stopping to sleep before continuing their drive the next day, this hotel is perfect. It was great value for money and in an ideal spot for our trip. Breakfast was very good for what we paid, and we tried dinner at the restaurant too, which was great and really tasty. The staff were very friendly.

We felt completely misled by this hotel. The glowing Expedia reviews had looked promising, but on arrival it felt nothing like the pictures or the positive reviews we had seen. Comparing our experience with the brutally honest Google reviews left us feeling that many of the glowing ratings on booking sites might be fabricated or manipulated. Our room had visible mold, sticky surfaces, and an overwhelming bad smell. It felt neglected and unclean. Water leaked in the bathroom, there was grime, and the whole place felt unhygienic. We didn't feel comfortable or safe. The balcony was shared with neighbouring rooms, which felt unsafe, especially with our kids in the next room. The hotel is squeezed between three highways and a railroad. It felt like sleeping on the shoulder of a freeway, with nonstop traffic noise making it nearly impossible to rest. No one warned us about this chaotic location. Breakfast was dry, cold, and tasteless, a huge letdown and not what we'd expect from a so-called three-star hotel. Outside, the front yard and facilities looked dry, unmaintained, and neglected, nothing like the pictures. This place shouldn't have a three-star rating. In our view, it's a scam. Between what we consider fake online ratings, terrible hygiene, the bad location, and the unsafe layout, we'd strongly urge others to stay away. Don't fall for the photos and reviews. Read the Google reviews carefully, they reflect the real story. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

The only good thing is the location, close to the Garda Parc Attractions. The rooms are quite noisy because of the road right in front, and it was impossible to regulate the room temperature, which was too warm. Breakfast was much the same every day and needs more variety.

The room was a reasonable size, but the bathroom was very old and damaged. The sink had cracks all over and the toilet seat was broken. See photos. Reception service was very good and the desk was always staffed. The breakfast team worked hard, keeping the buffet full and clearing tables. The hotel is right by the highway, but from a room on the other side the noise wasn't bad. We had a nice river view. Dogs are welcome, and ours enjoyed walks along the river. We also took the easy, pleasant 15-minute walk to Peschira for dinner. We stayed six days over NYE. Because of our dog, we watched the fireworks from our balcony while staying in our room.
