Cozy apartment in Palazzo Malaspina

I rarely write reviews, but this B&B deserved one. What a distinctive, beautiful place. The Family that owns it has clearly put a lot of love and effort into restoring this historic 16th-century building. It has large, elegant rooms and inviting shared living and dining spaces, and sits just a two-minute walk from Piacenza's beautiful old town. I only wish I'd had more time to enjoy it, since I was there on a work trip.

The location is great, but what stood out most was Sig B orange Alessandra, the proprietor. She was exceptionally kind and caring, and went out of her way to help us sort out a problem.

Bars, cafes, restaurants, and the old part of Piacenza are all within walking distance, with Roman ruins, architecture, and historic buildings nearby. The B&B has its own individual decor and furniture, and the room has an adjoining bathroom. It was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included, so it was good value for money.

For the price we paid, I guess it was okay. The furniture was very old, though that didn't matter much to me in a hotel. What bothered me was the dust and cobwebs, which made it feel like the place hadn't been cleaned well enough. The central location was a plus, since we didn't really need a car. The older lady was very nice, but the younger one was kind of rude and didn't seem to know much about the B&B rules. She told us breakfast wasn't offered because of Covid, but I personally think it should be, since it's called Bed and Breakfast and people need food regardless.
