Hotel Albatros

The view was lovely, and we liked the pool. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The staff experience, though, was awful. Our air conditioning wasn’t working, and the desk did nothing until we begged someone to check it. The man came in, said, “too hot in here,” pretended to press some buttons, then laughed and told us, “have a good sleep if u can.” In the morning we said the room was boiling, but the front desk rolled their eyes and insisted it worked, saying the other employee was new. No apology at all, and it really affected how we felt about the hotel.

The food quality is questionable, and the water bottles at the restaurant were dirty. There’s very little nearby, and it’s more than a 20-minute walk to the train station. It’s also far from downtown Sorrento and the port. The rooms are basic. If you only need somewhere to sleep, it might be okay, but I wouldn’t use it as a base. I don’t recommend this hotel at all. It isn’t a 4-star hotel, so look for somewhere else.

The walk to the station takes about 10 minutes, and trains for Sorento come every 20 minutes. The location is fairly OK. We had a pleasant stay, and the hotel seems to have been renovated, so many of the low reviews appear to be out of date. The walls could do with better sound insulation, but it wasn’t too bad.

We had a nice, quiet location and friendly staff, and the food was good, though I’d have liked more breakfast choices. The ocean view from room 104 was lovely, and the room and bathroom looked very nice. The room was a bit small, and the shower had no curtain or cover, so water ended up all over the floor. Some rooms did have one, so this may not be an issue for everyone. We were there on a school trip.
