Hotel Soleluna

The room was very clean, had lots of facilities, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. It was also quiet. Staff were kind and kept our luggage before check-in. The hotel is well placed near both the port and train station, with a supermarket below it.

We had booked three nights but needed to leave one night early. I knew the booking was non-refundable, but hoped the manager might be flexible. She was rude and said our money was lost and there was nothing she could do. I also felt she treated us differently from other guests, who were white. The hotel itself had problems too. It was a 15-minute walk from the railway station with our luggage, the bathroom had no lock, and the shower room was uncomfortably small. I’d look elsewhere for better amenities and pricing.

We stayed in September 2019, and the lodging was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and consistently pleasant, and we enjoyed breakfast, especially the good range of fruit. The beach was a five-minute walk away, while Sorrento took about 30 minutes to reach. Train stops weren’t too far either.

We had to shorten our stay because of an unexpected situation and let reception know in advance. Trying to get a refund turned into a disaster, and we got none. The manager was rude and dismissive when we discussed it, as if we were trying to scam her. The rest of the staff didn’t seem particularly helpful either. At one point, we returned from exploring the city with our keycards, but the manager stopped us at the entrance and made us feel like we were lying about being guests. Breakfast was another frustration. We couldn’t even take one biscuit, and it felt like that special treatment was just for us. The whole experience was a drag, especially the lack of support and the way we were questioned at the door. The place might be alright, but I hope future travelers are treated better. Some customer service training and more trust in guests wouldn’t hurt.
