Bed & Breakfast L'Angelica

Ettore's cooking alone is worth the stay, and you may well want to skip the search for restaurants while you're at B&B L’Angelica. I came across reviews of his food, and since we expected to reach P.Armerina in the late afternoon or early evening after a long drive through the Parco delle Madonie, I booked a meal there. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of our Sicilian tour, and one of our best meals. We had melanzane-parmiggiano, home-made pasta alla Norma, and the tastiest polpetti meat balls, so soft they melted in your mouth. We finished with Ettore's own-recipe torta all ricotta, made by his own hands. We ate and drank his house wine while he happily and generously looked after us, smiling all the while. Breakfast showed off his skills again. Go straight for the croissants he bakes every morning and fill them with his home-made jams, preserves, or marmalades. Ettore and Inez also give you a warm welcome and make the place feel homey. The high-ceilinged rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are large, and cleanliness and hygiene are decently maintained. It's right in the heart of Piazza Armerina, tucked into a little alleyway between Piazza Garibaldi and two or three very old churches. There may be details at Ettore's B&B that could be improved, but I'm leaving those out here. His kitchen deserves the detour, and the stay.

The hosts were very nice, though they didn't speak English and used a translation app. Our room was huge, with a double bed and two singles, all very comfortable, and a new bathroom. When we arrived in the evening, we had a lovely homemade dinner of traditional Sicilian food, several courses shared with the other B&B guests. In the morning there was a fabulous breakfast with everything you could dream of. We were also offered coffee when we arrived, exactly what we needed.

The owners were so kind and always available, and Ettore and Ines made our holiday special. The rooms are welcoming and spotless, with attention paid to every detail. The food was the best we've had in all of Sicily, authentic, generous, and made with love. B&B L'Angelica was simply perfect for us. Highly recommend it for a real Sicilian experience!
