Hotel Galilei

There’s no atmosphere, and the rooms don’t have coffee or tea, just a vending machine at reception. The restaurant is small and doesn’t open until 19.30, though the food was very good. There aren’t other places to eat within walking distance. The location is good for Pisa International Airport.

The location is handy for the airport, and there’s free parking. The safe in the room was good, and breakfast was okay. Even so, it wasn’t worth what we paid and doesn’t deserve four stars. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the floor was very dirty, and the walls were so thin I heard the next-door guest’s phone alarm. Staff weren’t helpful. We asked for a cot for our toddler and were told it would be in the room, but it wasn’t. When it finally arrived, it was partly broken and dirty.

We picked Hotel Galilei in Pisa because it’s conveniently near the airport. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant served good-quality food. But the whole floor and our room had a strong, unpleasant cigarette-smoke smell when we arrived. The facilities also seemed a bit neglected. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The rooms are clean and functional, but show wear, and some are noisy because of poor sound insulation. Staff are friendly and breakfast is decent. Still, for a four-star hotel, it feels overrated. Hotel Galilei is practical for a short stay if you need to be near Pisa Airport or Pisa Centrale train station. It’s in an industrial area that isn’t appealing or safe to walk around at night, and it’s quite far from the historic centre and Leaning Tower, about 3 km. If you’re visiting Pisa, I’d stay closer to the centre. It mainly suits short stays or people with early flights or train connections.
