Lido Palace Hotel Baveno

The food was well above four-star quality, and we enjoyed every meal. This is a beautiful hotel in a superb location, with a magnificent view from our room. The staff never felt overbearing and always seemed to be there when needed. Highly recommended.

The setting at Lago Maggiore is hard to beat. Our room had a small terrace facing the lake, with a view unlike anything I’d experienced before. The hotel has an old-fashioned style that we really liked, and it sits in a large garden with trees, terraces, and a pool. On a sunny summer day, the pool was a great place to unwind late in the afternoon after being out. Breakfast is served in a room with glass walls, so you get a lovely view and start the day in a good mood. There’s plenty to do around the lake: a panoramic train near the well-known city of Domodossola, boat trips along the lake to and from Switzerland, natural parks and castles, trekking on nearby Mottarone, and a relaxed evening scene with good restaurants and ice cream shops. The hotel is well placed for reaching all of these. The interiors are well kept, and the shared spaces and terraces are beautiful. The service was the best I’ve experienced. Concierge Paolo greeted us by name as soon as we came in, before we had even introduced ourselves, and gave us an envelope with information and suggestions for activities. Those small touches showed real attention to guests. Whenever we asked for information, the staff were there with useful answers and a clear sense of expertise. Paolo is a professional and wonderful concierge who made us feel at home. It was a real pleasure meeting you! We used the Regione Piemonte voucher, which meant we got three nights and paid just €150 for one night. At that price, we couldn’t have asked for more. Even at the full rate, the hotel deserves great respect. I’m pretty sure I’ll come back.
