Grand Hotel Bonanno

The breakfast was basic but perfectly fine, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Leaning Tower and other sights. I found the hotel clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was really nice, with lots of cakes, pies, meringues, tarts, cheese, eggs, and more, though the restaurant gets crowded. The hotel is clean and cozy, with an old-fashioned charm if that's your thing. The room was fine overall, but the décor is definitely dated, and one drawer was broken. I couldn't work out the safe and eventually gave up. The refrigerator wasn't working either; they did fix it, but only after asking if we'd “loaded it,” which was an unexpected thing to ask about a hotel mini-fridge. It's around a 10-15 minute walk to the Leaning Tower, manageable for us, though other hotels are closer if you want a shorter walk. A pleasant, clean stay with a few quirks, best for someone who likes a vintage feel rather than modern décor.

The room felt warm and welcoming, and we were really comfortable there. Staff were lovely and made us feel warmly welcomed. Great location and a tasty breakfast. At this price, you really can't go wrong.

I made two bookings for the same date by accident, just minutes apart through Agoda. As soon as I noticed, I contacted both Agoda and the hotel to explain and ask them to cancel the duplicate. Even though it was clearly an honest mistake and I got in touch straight away, the hotel refused any flexibility because of its non-refundable policy. I understand policies have a purpose, but I was hoping for more understanding and customer care. Paying twice for the same night is frustrating when the extra booking was unintentional and spotted immediately. I hope the hotel handles cases like this differently in future. A little compassion can go a long way toward guest loyalty.
