Hotel Astor

The room wasn’t wheelchair friendly, and parking cost us €15 for the car on the street outside when we checked out. I’d booked a twin room but was given a double, and the shared bathroom was poor quality. The hotel is inside an ltz zone, so make sure the front desk gets your registration number. I booked here, but expected better and would look for a better hotel next time.

I stayed here in early 2023. The detached private bathroom had no lock, so someone could technically watch you shower or even come in. Hopefully they’ve fixed that by now. It’s tolerable for a night or two if there’s no other choice, but I wouldn’t recommend a longer stay.

It’s an okay, no-frills place, but be ready for lots of stairs and no lift. That matters if you’ve got kids, big suitcases, or a buggy.

The lobby was really pleasant, with lots of places to sit, and the check-in instructions and communication were excellent. We only stayed one night. Our clean room had a sink, so brushing our teeth there at night was easier than going to the shared bathroom. It also had a desk, mirror, large hutch, and two bedside tables. The view wasn’t anything special, but that wasn’t why I was there. The hotel was well priced and conveniently located, about 11 minutes on foot from the train station and 20 minutes from the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I’d definitely stay again if I returned to Pisa.
