Pisa Train Station Hostel

Avoid this place. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and this was the worst. The guy at reception, who I believe is the owner, was rude and unprofessional. I checked out 15 minutes late, and he got very upset and aggressive. He wanted to charge me for another night and wouldn’t return my luggage unless I paid a 5 euro tip. I handed it over to get my bags back because he was standing in front of them and had locked the reception with the luggage inside. You can’t stay at the hostel after checkout, and leaving your bags costs 5 euros. I was only checking that I hadn’t forgotten anything, but he pushed me out like I was homeless. He showed no respect for guests and seemed intent on squeezing every penny out of you. The atmosphere wasn’t nice, it smelled bad, especially the corridor toilet, and it wasn’t clean. Go to Safestay Pisa Central instead. It’s a 10 minute walk from the train station, the atmosphere and staff are really nice, and you can leave your luggage there for free.

The whole place was clean and the room was spacious. Tomas was friendly and helpful, too. I only stayed one night, but it was definitely worth the price. A good budget option if you need to be near the airport and train station. I'd stay again.

They took payment for my room but refused to check me in when I got there from Madrid at midnight, after my flight landed at 12 AM. They said the latest check-in was 10 PM. I had already told them I'd arrive late, but they still turned me away and said I'd have to pay double to get someone at the desk to check me in. When I asked for a refund, they flatly refused, leaving me with no option but to sleep outside despite having paid in full. It's unacceptable and feels like a complete scam. There was no flexibility or customer service, and no respect for travelers delayed by flights. Avoid this hostel. They take your money and give nothing back.

A nice, comfortable place and the staff are polite. Honestly, if you stay 3-4 days, it feels like home.
