Residence Solidago

I liked being able to choose between the pool and the beach, both of them close by and convenient. The beach was especially quiet, with plenty of room while the beaches on either side were completely packed. The apartments were comfortable, and we had a very pleasant stay.

The apartment was very clean, newly painted, and well equipped, though we did miss having a microwave and freezer. We were about 100 m from the beach, and the staff were lovely and very helpful. There was a small issue with our reservation, which they handled very well, and when we had a problem with the sink, they fixed it immediately.

The bar was reasonably priced and well run, and the air conditioning worked very well. Dogs are allowed and welcomed, which was nice. Beyond that, this was a very disappointing two-night stay in late August. The place looked abandoned and run down, with no clear signs or explanation of the rules. At night it was dim and eerie, and I didn’t see any security. The wooden path to the beach had no railing and seemed very easy to trip on or for a child to fall from. The room was only sort of clean. The towels were clean and sheets changed, and someone may have swept, but it hadn’t been mopped. There were no toiletries apart from two lotion packets and a shower cap, and nothing suggested the place had ever been sanitized since it was built. The hair dryer seemed made for a Barbie doll. The shower drain was clogged; my boyfriend cleaned it and found a huge clot of hair that must have taken at least 5 months to build up. The cloth lamp was mouldy. Signs in the kitchenette say to clean up after yourself or pay a fine, and the only trash can is in the kitchen, with a sign saying you have to clean that too or face a hefty fine. It felt like guests were expected to do the cleaning. The shower also seemed too small for someone heavy set. I’d read that Wi-Fi was free, but it didn’t exist and wasn’t even mentioned. The beach is technically free, but you have to leave your belongings back by the pool and walk over to swim without knowing whether they’ll be safe. A beach chair or umbrella costs 23 euro a day. That information was nowhere in writing and nobody mentioned it until some random guy, who didn’t look like he worked there, stopped us, hounded us, and demanded payment or that we leave. At the pool, chairs and umbrellas are free, but you can’t get in without a shower cap. Nobody told me and there was no sign, so I only found out when I was told to get out. There are two refrigerators but no safe. The place seems to be set up for Italians, since I think a foreigner would be appalled by the condition of things.

I was 21 and stayed at the Solidago Resort for 4 days in July 21 with a friend. We were warmly welcomed and, after a quick walk-through of the apartment, could start using the facilities. The area was beautiful and always clean, and there were secured parking spots. Restaurants around there mostly open at about 19:30. There are lots of kids, so I can imagine it’s great if you have children. The pool bar plays music until late at night. The apartment was air-conditioned, with a controller to set the temperature. The room itself was okay, but comfort indoors was only 6/10. The pool was nice, with a bar beside it. At the pool, we had to wear a swim cap or keep our hair out of the water, presumably as a CoVid precaution. The beach was about 200m from our apartment, clean, with lots of nice spots for couples or families, plenty of lifeguard posts, and bars. Toilet paper was restocked when we asked, but it was cheap quality, so I’d bring your own if you have sensitive skin. Bring shampoo, body wash, soap, and dishwashing pads if you’re staying more than 2 days. There were no spices or washing-pads provided. Considering there’s a kitchen, they’ve done surprisingly little to make cooking easy or encourage its use. Check your chargers and power cables because plugs vary by country, and maybe bring an adapter. My ratings: pool size 7/10 and hygiene 9/10; beach sand 9/10, water 9/10, privacy 6/10, safety 9/10; apartment comfort 6/10, kitchen 5/10, bathroom 6/10; region restaurants 7/10, bars 8/10, parking 9/10, neighborhood 7/10; staff friendliness 9/10, English skills 7/10, and willingness to help 10/10. It’s a good place if you want to explore and enjoy the pool, sea, bars, and restaurants in the area. If you want to spend your time in the room or have peace and quiet, I’d choose somewhere else.
