La Casa degli Archi

We only spent one night at Casa Degli Archi, but we’ll remember it. Carved into the mountain rock, this atmospheric, unusual place felt peaceful and timeless, almost like entering another world. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our host made us feel at home right away, with a warm welcome and lots of thoughtfulness. That kindness added a lot to our short visit. Casa Degli Archi is a great choice for anyone wanting a stay with character in the stunning setting of Pitigliano. We certainly won’t forget it.

The view over the garden and valley outside the city is beautiful, and the apartment itself is lovely. We had a great balcony for morning coffee, and the decor was really nice. Even with the heat outside, it stayed surprisingly cool indoors with the windows open. The kitchen was well equipped with appliances and plenty of serving dishes, and the city has so many great places to eat. I’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it. A few small quirks: there’s no A/C in summer, and people gather outside the master bedroom window, which is right by the front door, to admire the view at night and in the morning. The master bathroom could use better ventilation and a shower curtain. The stove didn’t work, though that may have been user error.

Casa Bilance was a highlight of our Tuscany trip. The apartment was traditional, with thick walls, smaller windows, and original decorations, and it was clean, spacious, well equipped, with a breathtaking view. We got a bit lost at first, but reception was still reachable by phone after working hours, which really helped. Breakfast was simple and waiting for us in a cute basket. A wonderful, authentic experience.

We arrived expecting something quite different from what we’d seen in the booking photos and arranged by phone. The room we got felt like a cave, with a tiny window and hardly any light. There was fungus on the walls and a bad smell. We had to fight to get our money back before moving to a much better place. They offered another apartment, but it was 10 km away.
