Villa San Lucchese

After a day out sightseeing, it was nice to have a pool and a good restaurant with a terrace and a view right there, so we could relax without driving elsewhere. The service was immaculate, and I slept like a baby in the super comfortable bed. Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh fruit, homemade cakes, and eggs made to order, which can be hard to find even at upscale hotels around here. Siena is 20 minutes away and Florence about 40.

Quiet and clean, with rooms that have been newly renovated. The villa is very nice, and the restaurant is amazing. I could see myself spending a month here in summer. Great quality for the money.

Lorenzo shared local tips that were more useful than ChatGPT, and Marcantoni (Ma Dongni) made our stay feel like a blend of Italian and Taiwanese culture. He welcomed and served each guest like a personal barista, making a perfect cappuccino or espresso. We wanted to spend four days and three nights near San Gimignano, and found Hotel Villa San Luchese in Poggibonsi after researching options. Its location, service, and atmosphere gave us that Tuscan dream feeling. We booked directly with the hotel and got a much lower price than most third-party booking sites. Before we arrived, they messaged us on WhatsApp to ask when we'd get there and whether we preferred double beds, which felt thoughtful. We asked about connecting rooms, and they put us as close together as possible. We later found out our rooms had also been upgraded. My teenage daughters said the place gave them a "Call Me by Your Name" vibe as soon as we arrived. It feels more like a small resort. On the way to reception, there was a charming Italian garden on the right and a lovely arched ceiling at the entrance. The grounds have two pools, a tennis court, and a beautiful outdoor dining area with wide views over Tuscan hills, grapevines, and olive trees. We booked a table for our first evening without hesitation. I love that two generations have worked together over the years to restore Hotel Villa while keeping its original charm. The friendly service made us feel genuinely welcome. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Tuscan stay with heart, history, and memorable service.
