The Palm

I paid EUR 561.70 in full on March 12, 2026, for a five-person stay at The Palm from May 13-17, booked through Booking.com in March. On April 30, just 13 days before arrival and 49 days after payment, the host, Cristina, told me the dates were overbooked because of a calendar sync issue between Booking.com and Airbnb. By then, prices for places on Lake Como for those dates had risen sharply. Comparable stays were going for PLN 65,000 to PLN 145,000. To me, that suggests the reservation may have been released to sell through another channel at a higher rate, rather than lost in an accidental system error. Cristina offered three alternatives directly instead of using Booking.com's official reaccommodation process, and each was well below the standard of what I'd originally booked. It took weeks of escalating the problem with Booking.com, with several messages and arrangements along the way. My booking was cancelled without my consent, and I had to find a replacement independently for five people who had already bought non-refundable flights. I wouldn't recommend this place. In my view, the way the customer was treated was unfair. The communication was bizarre, the host was irresponsible, and they didn't cooperate in sorting out a situation they had caused.
