The only real plus for us was being near the historic center, port, and railway station. I never met the owner, only the agency representative managing the apartment. They had prepared just one room, assuming there'd be a couple, without checking. Luckily, they got us another set of bedsheets within a few hours. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. The single room was comfortable, though its closet was tiny. My friend got back pain from the bed in the double room. Being in the middle of the old town, the place didn't get much light. The area was filthy and full of trash. That's not unusual compared with other Italian towns, and even though the neighborhood looked shady, we never felt unsafe. The worst part by far was getting up and down the extremely narrow, steep wooden staircase to the third floor. We felt very unsafe on it, and I got a couple of bruises on my legs. My cabin-sized trolley in the picture shows how tight it was. The stair light worked on only three days out of the whole week. We didn't expect much for what we paid, but this was one of the worst B&Bs I've stayed in. I can't recommend it.
