B&b Pioppi

There's not much to do in Pioppi, so it's a good place for a quiet break, but I'd choose somewhere else for more activities. The facility is clean. Breakfast is a little sparse, though Anna is very kind and always available. Dinner at the Margherita Hotel was good quality but skimpy, even the bread was rationed. Rosaria and Marco, the waiters, were attentive to our needs. The employer, unfortunately, leaves no room for independent thought, making everyone, including us, feel like soldiers in his service. We were told off for standing under another umbrella and should have stayed in our own shade, even though we hadn't rented that umbrella.

Anna was the highlight of the weekend, so kind and helpful. The B&B rooms are clean, there's a nice panoramic terrace, breakfast is simple but pleasant, and dinner is good. The beach is nice too, though it's far from the accommodation. The place feels isolated, so you have to drive everywhere, even to get a bottle of water. I recommend it for couples, but with my two children, having to take the car all the time was stressful. After paying €200 for a room at B&B Pioppi, we asked to switch to a room at Hotel Margherita nearer the beach. The owner, who seemed a bit arrogant, wanted another €150. That felt excessive, but fine. All in all, a nice weekend without particular expectations.

The cleaning service wasn't provided until after three days, and the towels and linens were changed only then too. Nobody had warned us. I left our towels on the floor for a change and tried to contact the owner for an explanation or help after we got back from the beach, but got no reply. Everything here seems to revolve around money, and rudeness is everywhere. At breakfast, tiny croissants were kept in the kitchen, and there weren't enough tables for all the guests, so we had to wait for others to finish. The shuttle ran in just one time slot, or cost an extra €15, and was simply the owner's old car. Dinner came with tap water, wine was included but not served, and bread was rationed to one slice per person. You couldn't swap dinner for lunch unless you paid a fee. This place should be absolutely avoided.

We enjoyed the restaurant food and the surrounding area, and otherwise had a really good stay. The room didn't have a mini-fridge. We also struggled with the shuttle because it ran on a limited schedule.
