Villa Tavallini

We won’t return. The setting is beautiful, and guests can sit outdoors, but there’s no shared indoor space such as a lounge. Our room was small, so when the weather was bad we had nowhere comfortable to spend time. There wasn’t a proper chair, only a little wooden stool beside a very small side table, and we couldn’t make tea in the room. The guest rooms we saw were tucked away in the basement of the splendid house, and we didn’t get to see the rest of it. Hospitality felt like an afterthought. Breakfast was offered for just one hour, which gave us the same impression. We’d booked four nights through booking.com, but arrived two days late because one of us became ill. We told the owner in time, yet he still charged us for all four nights and asked for extra money for breakfast and for a few hours of charging our electric car. We declined that less than charming offer.

There’s so much around the house that you could stay for 10 days and still feel it wasn’t enough. The owner, the setting, the perfect climate, the nearby opportunities, breakfast, and really everything all made it special. The house has a lovely atmosphere of its own.

It had a real homey feel. The host was kind and friendly, and both the room and bathroom were very clean and tidy.

A wonderful stay, and the view was top-notch!
