Marta B.
We stayed here before covid and it used to be my happy place, but sadly it's changed since then. This time it was filthy. There was an infestation of bedbugs, huge dust balls under the bed and in the bedroom corners, and the floors weren't cleaned properly. Towels and sheets weren't changed in the second week, even though it was supposed to happen every 4 days. We didn't get clean sheets or fresh towels. The showers are tiny, you have to go in sideways, and the grout was dirty. The place is old and noisy, with dogs barking all night and loud guests easily heard through the thin walls. They also provided very little for cleaning. We had to keep asking for shower soap, kitchen soap, and toilet paper, so I bought my own toilet paper and paper towels. The pool has the same loud echo as many hotel pools. Pool towels cost 5:euro per day. It's about 2.5 miles/km out of town, so expect plenty of walking or take the bus. The taxi fare is fixed at 30 Euro or more one way for the 3 kl or 9 min trip to the airport, and anywhere in Alghero, so check in advance. There are some good things nearby: great coffee down the block next to farmacia, Bahia's on the beach, and a few good restaurants. Every Wed, there's a big outdoor market on the street behind the residence, with food and useful items, good buys, and a fun atmosphere if you like markets. The staff are sometimes on the premises and somewhat helpful when they are there. I would look for somewhere better kept and more accommodating. There are many other hotels across from the beach on via Lido and in Alghero Vecchia. Don't book late like I did, book ahead and find a clean place. Alghero is wonderful, but I won't return here because the service quality was poor.
