Hotel President

The staff were extremely attentive and friendly, which was the one real positive for me. For cleanliness and missing basics like an iron and conditioner, this feels more like a 3-star hotel. The current 4-star rating is misleading and unfair to other places that put in more consistent effort.

The staff were friendly, though the road outside made things noisy. The rooms are dated and only relatively clean, and breakfast was weak. It falls well short of four stars. Even three feels too generous.

This felt like a 2-star hotel, as it would in most countries. Calling it 3-star would be a stretch, and it certainly didn’t feel like the 4-star place it’s listed as. The room was spacious and the Wi-Fi was among the best I’ve had in a hotel, but the A/C barely warmed anything beyond the ceiling, so the room was cold. The plumbing was noisy, and the bidet made a bad smell, apparently because the sewage pipes weren’t ventilated. There were no shelves in the shower or by the sink, and the shower heads were low quality. No glass for a drink or place to leave a toothbrush, either. On the second day, housekeeping took one of the plastic cups and didn’t replace it. Breakfast was very poor, so I bought my own from a local grocery on day two. COVID measures were poor as well. Staff handed over keys without disinfection, and I expected a board marked “desinfected” so guests could pick up their own key without extra handling. At breakfast, staff wore masks below their noses, so I stopped eating there.

Breakfast was mostly sweet pastries, and the rooms felt quite dated. The 4-star rating is very misleading.
