B&B Elena

The B&B is well located if you're there to see the Pompeii ruins. Our clean room had a private terrace that we really liked. Working from the room was tough, though. I'm a remote worker, and the WiFi kept cutting out. The table was very low and didn't work with the full-height chair provided, so it wasn't comfortable to work there. For a short visit, the place was fine.

Really recommend this lovely place. The room was cozy and nicely decorated, and the AC was a plus. The bathroom was normal and came with a hairdryer. Breakfast was nice, and there was a good range of tea.

I felt very safe at this secure property, and the hosts were friendly, spoke English and kindly made coffee in the morning. There was a nice choice of pastries and fruit every morning. My room even had a private balcony and an INCREDIBLE mountain view. I loved sitting in the cool night breeze and watching the lights twinkle across the water, which I think were from Sorrento. The old-fashioned skeleton key was unfamiliar to me as someone from North America, but I eventually worked it out. There's also a kettle on the second floor if you want tea in your room. It's close to the train and the ruins, which made arriving and joining my tour easy. I also took a ten-minute walk at dusk to the modern town, which was very clean and didn't have too many people smoking. The patio was called private, but it was beside the shared smoking area, so I couldn't sleep with the window open and the smell drifted into the hall and stairwell. Some very loud guests sat outside smoking and yelling for hours, when they really should have gone into town. There was no soundproofing, so I heard the squeakiest bed next door, though my own bed was fine. Other guests getting up at 2 am to make tea woke me too. The water took ages to heat, then got scalding. When I tried to adjust it, it went straight back to freezing cold. I really loved my stay despite those things. I didn't get to explore the ruins of Pompei as thoroughly as I'd hoped or visit Herculaneum, so I may come back for another stay and ask for the same room.

Clean, friendly and just right for our short break. The Pompeii site and both train stations are perfectly placed nearby.
