Roseto del Drago

After our holiday, we wanted to thank our wonderful host Antonello Nicola again. We spent 12 unforgettable days at his house in January 2020 and felt right at home. We’ve had many good hosts on our travels, but Antonello is special: intelligent, clever, and thoughtful. He and Sara brought so much warmth, attention, and kindness to the house. Their tips helped us discover wonderful places, attractions, traditions, and local food. The location of “Roseto del Drago” in the historic, romantic part of Ponte di Valtellina is excellent. By car, we could quickly get to the ski resorts Aprica and Chiesa in Valmalenco, and to Sondrio and Teglio. Sara’s suggestion to take the “Bernina Express” from Tirano to St.Moritz was a highlight of our holiday and an unforgettable adventure. The Trattoria near “Il Drago” serves traditional regional food and is worth recommending. We enjoyed every day in Antonello’s house and spent a memorable holiday that gave us fresh inspiration for our work. We wholeheartedly recommend a stay in this fairytale house. There’s a magical feel to this place, an old and fascinating manor facing the mountains, with a big park full of flowers and roses. The rooms are romantic, with antique furniture, and you can really sense the history. The host also tells old creepy stories.

The managers are friendly, and the rooms feel welcoming. It’s a wonderful spot with views of the Valtellina mountains. Highly recommended.

The garden of roses made the place feel especially lovely, and the whole house has so much history and charm. Staying at Roseto del Drago, in the heart of Ponte in Valtellina, was unforgettable. This 15th-century historic home is lovingly cared for by Antonello and Sara, and every corner shows its history and beauty. We stayed in the Piano Nobile apartment, which was recently renovated with great respect for its original character. It was bright and welcoming, with antique furniture that gives the place its own personality. The wooden ceilings and stone details, including the kitchen sink, made it feel warm and authentic. Looking out over the courtyard and garden was peaceful and relaxing. The cleanliness and attention to detail were impeccable. It’s well placed for exploring Valtellina. Sondrio, Teglio, and Tirano are about a 20-minute drive away, and local wineries offer interesting tastings. We highly recommend Roseto del Drago if you want to switch off and enjoy an authentic holiday surrounded by history and nature, with its own special charm. We’ll definitely return!
