Borgo degli Alpaca

Don't go there!

I arranged this stay for my parents so they could relax somewhere quiet, but it turned out to be the opposite. The owner asked for payment by bank transfer and provided no receipt or other documentation. When my parents arrived, they still didn't have the apartment access codes. Inside, it was filthy, the heating didn't work, and they had summer sheets in the middle of winter. We contacted the owner right away. She said she'd bring pellets for the stove so they could at least get through the night, but never came. My parents had to buy a space heater to sleep, then leave the next morning. The owner later returned the transfer without an apology or any explanation, and took no responsibility. This was disrespectful and unacceptable. I don't think the place is suitable for hosting people, and I feel I should warn anyone considering a booking.

Don't book here. I can't really review the property itself, since I never got to find out what it was like. On the day we were due to check in, the owner messaged to say she couldn't host us anymore for serious reasons. She wouldn't answer the phone when I tried to ask what had happened. After a long-awaited vacation, my family and I were left asking, “Where are we going now?” That's dishonest behavior, to put it mildly. I hope the property closes soon. You don't treat people this way, madam. I have the Booking.com conversations and WhatsApp messages as proof, so please don't claim there was no reservation in my name.

The property is a bit dated, but it suits a rustic style. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place surrounded by nature, and the pool was clean and well maintained despite all the trees around it. The children loved the animals. When the owner let them out of their enclosures, she called us over so we could pet them. She was friendly and kind, told us about the place and the animals, and suggested good places to eat. There’s also a charming village about a 20-minute walk away, an easy route with dogs, where you can have a quick look around and enjoy a spritz at the bar.
