Borgo Caiano Country Inn

I watched more than 100 swifts skim the pool for a drink, which was an incredible sight. There are nature walks, fruit falling from the trees, and a peaceful hillside setting about an hour from Florence. It also felt very secure for children and families. The two people running the place are among the loveliest hosts, and they clearly love what they do. The accommodation, pool, wine, and food are all kept to incredibly high standards. Ombretta makes generous, amazing Tuscan food, and boxes up whatever you can't finish so you can take it back to your apartment. Her husband makes the best Steak Floretine I've ever tasted. A really magical place, and we'll be back.

There's no GSM connection, if that matters to you, but WiFi reaches the rooms and garden, with downloads around 5-10 Mb/s. A small store is nearby. Breakfast is very good, with savory choices like ham, cheese, vegetables, and eggs as well as sweet food, and they'll try to provide whatever you ask for. Dinner is great too, especially Bistecca alla Fiorentina, just remember to ask in the morning. The rooms are spacious and clean, the owners friendly and helpful, and the garden and pool are nice for evenings. A very pleasant base for visiting Tuscany.

The grounds are spacious and green, with a pool, sun loungers, and beach towels supplied. The rooms are large, lovely, homey, and sparkling clean, and the kitchen has everything you might need. Breakfast exceeded what I expected. The hospitality here is on another level. Definitely recommend.

We had such a good holiday at Il Borgo Caiano. Ombretta, Roberto, and the rest of the staff were lovely, and nothing we asked for was a problem. The mountain setting was peaceful, the pool was great, and our room had a beautiful view. Highly recommend it!
