Palazzo Gatteschi

We had a great stay. The owners were kind and welcoming, and the pool was lovely for cooling off.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a few nights with friends or family. The apartments and rooms are simple and basic, but have all the comforts. There’s a large outdoor area and pool for relaxing with a good amount of privacy. Onsite parking is close to the property.

The garden and park are dreamy, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing. The building is very well kept, with quality furnishings, and guests have a pool and private parking. The downside is that the rooms face the road, so it can be noisy, and the beds are too soft.

Noise was the biggest problem for me. The property is beside the valley’s main road, where the speed limit is 70 km/h (44 mph) and is often exceeded. Traffic goes on all day and night, including cars, trucks, and ambulances, plus motorcycles speeding along the straight stretch. My room had no air conditioning, so I had to leave the windows open. The garden side was a little quieter, but still unbearable. There’s also a train at the edge of the garden, and a nightclub a few hundred meters away as the crow flies kept us awake until 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th. Calling this an oasis of peace doesn’t fit. You can’t really walk outside the building: once you pass the gate, you’re on the road with no sidewalk and could be hit by a car. I think the website photos should show at least part of the street so guests know what to expect. Special thanks to Mrs. Angela for her kindness, and to the cook.
