We were tired and stressed when we arrived on Elba island at 7 pm. The Airbnb we'd arranged, mainly because we had our dogs and wanted some space, turned out to be a disaster. We drove down to Mola and asked whether they had a room. The answer was a big yes, with smiles. We slept really well, and the hotel team were lovely. When people are this kind and welcoming, you feel blessed.

The location is excellent, with a great view and a lovely saltwater pool. We could bring our dogs, had a separate entrance for the room, daily cleaning, beach towels, a balcony overlooking the sea, and a separate beach area. Getting to Porte Azzuro on foot isn't possible, so you'll need a car or other transport. There were several rules for dog owners: dogs could only go to certain spots in the lunch cafe, and weren't allowed on the beach or around the pool. The dog beach is a one-minute walk away, but you have to pay to use it. Breakfast was a weak point, with little choice: scrambled eggs were the only hot dish, there were lots of sweets, and nothing suited keto or protein-focused diets.

I had to cancel my Booking reservation at the last minute because of an unexpected problem. Even though we'd never agreed on it beforehand, the hotel let me cancel without a penalty. They seem like really nice people, and I'd like to stay there in the future since they deserve a chance.

The pool was a highlight, and the location is great. You'll need a car, though.
