Hotel Dei Pini

The only thing going for this hotel was being near a Lidl supermarket. It seems to host parties and events, and a celebration on our night went on until 4 a.m., so we couldn’t rest. The breakfast was very disappointing, with little choice, expired butter and hard rolls. It seemed like leftovers from the party the night before. Our room had several basic problems: the toilet didn’t work, there was no hot water despite what we expected, and the TV was out of order. We reported everything, but nobody came to fix it. The hotel is clearly outdated and needs major renovation. I couldn’t recommend it except as a last resort.

The rooms were neat and fine, and breakfast was better than at most of the hotels we’ve stayed in in Sicily. Restaurant service was great, the waiters were good, and the food was all right.

We left early and moved to a cheaper B&B that was far better than this supposed 4-star hotel. The place was so good that we did that! There was no English-speaking staff at all, and there’s not much at the hotel beyond a pool that was mediocre at best. The rooms were okay but old and a bit dilapidated, and they need renovating. Without a car, you’re very limited by the location: it’s on a busy road with nothing close by. Breakfast was poor too. The scrambled eggs had far too much salt, and the rest was cold and dry. Honestly, you can get better on a cheap budget airline.

The worst hotel experience of my life. It stinks everywhere, even the walls, and it was the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in. The toilets in the rooms are disgusting, like something from a horror movie. They don’t meet basic European standards. The air conditioning is a joke, they don’t even change the bed sheets, and there isn’t a single carpet on the floors. You can’t even iron shirts there. The staff were the worst part. From the receptionists, who were among the least friendly people I’ve ever met, to everyone else, they were rude and hostile. You feel their hate as soon as you deal with them. When they realize you don’t speak their language, every other sentence seems to be an insult in Italian. I asked for two days to change rooms because of hallway noise and loud music late at night, but they didn’t care. It’s a discotheque until late, and you won’t sleep before 2 or 3 in the morning. If you want to ruin your vacation and waste your money while getting spat in the face by the staff at hotel Dei Pini, choose this hotel.
