Borgo del Nibbio

I came for two days on my own to switch off from work, and the quiet here was just what I needed. Cycling around, I heard cicadas and birds, and even spotted a beaver, hares, baby nutria, ibises, and pink flamingos. The simple studio was clean and welcoming, and the staff kindly helped me with a few things I’d forgotten. The beach was great too, though its proximity may not be convenient. Il Ghebo is a WONDERFUL place, and I wish I’d stayed longer. I’ll be back. 👍

Getting anywhere takes time, since the roads are limited to 50 km/h, and the few beaches are quite a trip away. The accommodation also felt unsafe to me because the main door was broken. The river right next to it has no fence, so be careful with children. The pool is open for three hours in the morning and four in the afternoon. Inside, the toilet is in the shower, and opening the second bed blocks the whole corridor, leaving no way to reach the bathroom. It’s isolated between two rivers and far from everything.

The apartment we got was awful for the price. I haven’t seen the other units shown on the website, but ours had no veranda: just two rooms facing the parking lot on one side and the basement on the other, two creaky sofa beds, a kitchenette without an oven, and a bathroom that was a nightmare. It wasn’t clean either. The village might have potential, but it’s very neglected. The owner told my partner the Wi-Fi was acting up because he’d bought the apartment only 15 days earlier. Since we booked at the end of April, we’re left wondering how this was the unit we requested. He also said the pool had a small problem and couldn’t be used. We didn’t plan to use it, but they should have told us a few days earlier when we spoke by email and phone. The website says all apartments have a veranda, which wasn’t true for ours. Never again.

Mr. Leonardo is such a lovely person, and the apartment was fabulous and clean. It’s a peaceful spot for the whole family, including pets. I only spent one night here, but it made our second wedding anniversary feel like a dream stay. I’ll definitely return and hope to stay longer next time.
