Tenuta La Chiusa

I gave the service one star because I didn't receive any. I understand that the site was booked for a private event. But I'd driven 2,000 kilometers, seen the sign saying wine could be bought directly from the producer, and arrived to find two employees sitting and chatting while waiting for the private event. They'd thoughtfully printed a small notice about the drinking event and put it ten meters from the shop, but I was still told they weren't open that day. I've bought more than 30 bottles at wineries across Italy, from Austria to the island of Elba, and nowhere else have I been treated this way as a customer interested in their products. It's a shame that the business seems to prefer making money from private events and is undermining its own product. But that's their choice.

A real hidden gem. The vineyard is in a unique spot beside the sea, with beautiful gardens, and it's one of the loveliest vineyards I've ever visited. There's a varied wine selection, including some really interesting reds.

We stopped for a walk, bought some of their wine and grappa, and got to see the grapevines and how the wine is made. The setting beside the sea is beautiful and very well maintained. The woman who served us was friendly and professional.

Our room sat near the sea, with vineyards all around and a really quiet, peaceful feel. We had a lovely family holiday here and made memories I won't forget. I'd love to come back.
