Le Ghiaie Relax

Everyone on staff was so welcoming and kind. The hotel’s in a great spot, and the view makes it feel like you’re right on the beach. Breakfast was pretty good too. I wasn’t sure about booking a 1-star hotel, but I don’t regret it at all. It was a really good experience.

The balcony view was the one good thing about this hotel. It’s right on the beach, which is why we chose it. But they charge guests 25 euros a day for an umbrella and two sunbeds, and without paying, you can’t sit on the beach even though it’s just 4 metres from the room. That’s ridiculous when you’ve already paid 200€ for two nights. The room was boiling hot, and there was no ventilator, despite the listing saying one was included. The toilet door wouldn’t shut, so you had to use it with the door open. The bed was about as comfortable as the gravel beach outside. Staff weren’t unkind, but they weren’t very welcoming either, and breakfast was a joke: one croissant and a cup of tea each. We loved the island, but this nearly ruined our two-day stay. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The beach is clean and there’s plenty of room for visitors. The water was a little dirty, but snorkeling was still good, with lots of fish, including some bigger ones than I saw at other beaches here in Elba.

A very quiet place with a lovely welcome. Really nice location, and I’d recommend it.
