The room we booked, without a kitchen, cost about 100 euros a day. Since the hotel restaurant is closed in the low season, you may want to consider one of their rooms with a kitchen, though those cost about 25% more. Driving into the center isn't practical because parking is difficult. There is a bus, but it comes at fairly long intervals. A kettle in the room would have been useful while the restaurant was closed, or at least a vending machine at reception. One downside in our double room was that the mattress was two separate ones, leaving a gap by morning. A single mattress would be better. The hotel is also closed to the sea road, a pleasant route for an easy walk. In the low season, the beach in front of La Terasse gets sun later than the other beaches, which are already shaded by then. Most rooms have an extended balcony, so you can sunbathe outside your room instead of going down to the sandy beach. The hotel has its own parking for an extra 10 euros a day, as is common in Italy. Internet was good, rooms were clean, and housekeeping was regular. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and spoke excellent English, especially the woman who was expecting a baby. The hotel is at the far end of the bay, about a 15-minute walk from the village center and the fortress. We came to Portovenere just in transit, but the village's dramatic beauty convinced us to stay six days, from October 25 to 30, 2022. The bay was cozy, with an old fortress, colorful fishermen's houses, and a real sense of history. It felt like a picture. Even at the end of October, both air and water were warm, around 23 C. There were few tourists in the village in autumn, especially on weekdays. I highly recommend this hotel.

There was no peace during our three nights in mid-May. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., two sets of construction work were going on outside, on the road and the beach, so we couldn't relax or sunbathe. The pool was empty too. Our apartment, room 206, felt neglected, dated, and tired, though it did have a tiny balcony and one good thing, the view. A rusty, broken shutter hinge meant we couldn't latch the shutters open to enjoy it. The kitchen had no detergent, cloths, utensils, sharp knife, or kettle. There was a microwave, but we had to move a cupboard to plug it in. No tea, coffee, sugar, or milk either. There was no iron or laundry service, despite what was advertised, and the closest laundry is in La Spezia. The TV wouldn't get channels because of an aerial error. Every room did have an A4 sheet listing what you couldn't do and what things would cost, for example, 8 euros for extra towels. This was not worth the money.

A quiet, lovely spot with a perfect location and a sea view. The room was nice, but the bed wasn't very comfortable. I was also disappointed that hotel guests have to pay a lot for pool sunbeds. Breakfast wasn't included.

You're paying more for the location than for the room itself, which is right on the beach. It's a reasonable walk to the shops and restaurants, and check-in was friendly. The parking lot is a real pain when it's busy: the entrance and exit share one lane, so people end up backing up to let cars out.

The room was comfortable, if a little basic, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was decent, and the views from the windows were magnificent. A great place to stay while enjoying Portovenere.
